Vince Marcello: I guess it becomes the definition of what is official. There was never a moment where he ran lanugo the stairs. No one overly plane considered it. That became the priority, so when we figured out how we wanted to end that story and where we kind of wanted to take it, then it became an speciality of what is the end terms of her romantic life? And that was really where the idea of them coming together at the safari came in, which unliable us to bring the kissing diner when in. It was an organic way of bringing the kissing diner when into the kids’ lives who were no longer in upper school. It came from my world that there was a pearly every year that kids from school would go to all the time. That’s when this idea came that we wanted to show that these two individuals have grown up, they both unclose that they’re mature now, and you create the delightful possibility of what if. When you’re talking well-nigh iconography and movies and you see two people driving off the sunset together, that’s a pretty strong image. It’s interesting how much conversation is involved. The movie does have a 6-year time jump. Was it unchangingly going to be 6 years? 
Vince Marcello: It was one of those things that we looked at, and the key was I wanted to be worldly-wise to have them both increasingly in their careers. With Noah going to wilt a lawyer, the idea was to get him out of law school at the time they [Noah and Elle] were both done. It felt like they both are at a crossroads. They both have just finished school, he’s well-nigh to work, she’s got a job. If you just looked at the pure numbers part of it, that made sense as a good time jump. I will say that most of the people that I know that got when together with their upper school sweethearts did so without college. They’d been through that process of dating other people, coming back, settling in, and their mind turned when to a first love. I have several friends that ended up doing that. It was debated, but we landed on that number pretty quick when you looked at undergrad plus law school or undergrad for the kids who were a year behind.

I know The Kissing Diner 3 was filmed when to when with the second movie. Did you know right yonder going into The Kissing Diner 2 that you were going to get a third movie? 
Vince Marcello: Yes. Without the success of the first which, of course, no one can overly predict that kind of genie in a snifter popularity… As soon as it became unveiled that Netflix, which was well-nigh 35 seconds without it happened, that they were going to want increasingly I knew that if they wanted a second, they’d want a third. As I read it, I could see that some of the DNA was in there. I grew up on those films, of course. When we talked I said, “I don’t know how you’d finger well-nigh it but one of the things that I’d like to connect with, and it’s probably considering of the way I grew up. A tropical friend that I had was a girl. I just don’t finger that Lee and Elle should overly end up together.” And she went, “Oh my god, yes. Thank you for saying that. Rachel is probably one of the most centered and well-turned notation in the story. She’s the one who helps Lee separate but then they do find their way when to each other, and the idea is that hopefully Elle and Noah will.
